I'm pretty sure the idle screws on Autolite carbs lean as you screw in, and
richen as you screw out.
That's just one thing to tune, though. They are a whole different animal
from Holleys - not better or worse, just different.

Art, on some carbs, the adjustable needle increases fuel flow (richens) and
on others it increases air flow (leans). If your stock engine has a truely
stock carb, you'll need an expert in Ford/Autolite carbs. Most of us threw
them
away in horror and put something else on that we were familiar with. Sorry-
