This happened w my son's Toyota about a month ago. The cables and connections looked fine by flashlight at night but upon close exam in the daylight all the surfaces were coated w a light gray film. I used one of those metal brush battery cable and post cleaners and the car started right up an no further problems

Remove, clean & retighten both battery cables. A poor connection on one
will allow light loads to go thru but when a heavy load is called for, the poor
connection opens up. The starter and solenoid take 100-250 amps to work but the
instruments only take 5 amps or so. Good luck, Charlie- J Deryke
