Anytime there's a downturn in the economy, GM, like other corporations, look
for ways to save money. The bean counters have always recommend halting
Corvette production since its financial return is very small. But there have
always been enough car guys near the top in GM to keep the Corvette in
production. They understand it sells other cars for Chevrolet. What will
probably happen is Corvette development money will be cut. Another positive
for the Corvette is the use of the Corvette powertrain in the Pontiac and
Cadillac division.
