[DeTomaso] Tonight's debate: From the larger perspective

The latest 'vette is the supercar value of the 20th and probably the 21st
century. Hard to believe you get all you do for the money. It makes me
wish I was a Chevy guy and glad it's American. For the money it will run
with or beat cars priced in the 100's of thousands of dollars, and look good
doing it.

That said, everything I own is Ford or Ford powered and I'd be embarrassed
to admit how many I've managed to collect over the years. Of all of them
the Pantera's beauty is un-matched. I look at my Yellow P car (Provomo
Chuck helped me locate it) and say it's the most drop dead gorgeous car I've
ever laid eyes on. Who needs Viagra if you own one of these things? If
Chuck was here right now I'd bend right over and kiss his @ss. In fact I
need to make time and snap some pictures for his registry.

Not only is the Pantera's beauty timeless, it was way ahead of it's time.
Mid-engine, front and rear independent suspension, transaxle, and powered by
an engine you can go down to the boneyard and pick up parts for if your in a
pinch...... Did I mention the beauty???????????

There were a few wrinkles to be ironed out of the original design. At
nearly 40 years old these cars require some extra attention. With the help
of Mike Drew, Chuck, Mad Dawg and others to name but a few we have all of
this knowledge to draw upon to make it all happen. I can't thank all of you
enough for this messageboard even though I don't chime in often. I can fire
mine up right now and wouldn't be afraid to drive it coast to coast and get
something like 25 mpg? Stop it! These cars are totally off the hook for
the money and well worth the small amount of time-investment. The Lucas
wiring is probably the weakest link in the thing. I had it in an old
Triumph I owned at a weak moment and was glad to be rid of it. Amazingly,
mine doesn't or hasn't seemed to be an issue, although I do have to give the
gauges a gentle tap every once in a while to wake them up (chuckle,
chuckle). Mine gets attention everywhere it goes and I mean everywhere.
People will walk right past any Corvette to look at it. Kids and adults
alike wonder what it is. I hope it sparks an interest in the hobby to get
more youngsters involved.

As someone else mentioned earlier, 'vettes are nice. I won't argue that. I
sure wouldn't give up my Pantera for one though..
