Mr. Hall would not be surprised. 
When GM had to stop its racing involvement by corporate mandate to match the 
industries requirements Engineering Staff continued for some time in secret. 
Frank Winchell head of Engineering Staff almost lost his job over not 
complying. Then Mike Pocobello, a young engineer that had worked on the racing program 
left Engineering Staff and went to work for Hall to keep things in order. He 
later returned to Chevrolet. 

The racing technologies GM pioneered were significant, racing automatic 
transmissions computer programed to match the racetracks, these were run on the 
dynamometer at Engineering Staff. The sucker fans, snowmobile motors to pull the 
cars down in corners, the rear adjustable wing working in concert with a front 
spoiler and many other groundbreaking concepts.
