Boyd,
Whatever you gain in a real functional airscoop that is really out there 
beyond the vehicle laminar flow will be lost in a pretty large increase in 
aerodynamic drag. It will not look nice either.

The Mangusta has long   3" tubes that go back behind the rear wheels and 
through the structural sheer panel away from hot engine air. If you can find some 
heat reflective tubing an application of that idea to a Pantera should really 
help. Just get the intake away from the headers and the back of the engine.
