The answer is less than $100.  Yes, $50 for paint and $40 for supplies including primer.  Covered my GMC van using a roller with only the top in orange peel - the rest was sanded and buffed.  Kept the top un-sanded so that I can show you the difference and so that I can continue to throw stuff on the roof for hauling junk.
 
Used the “Hot Rod” magazine article to instruct me to do the repaint.  This is all in prep for painting my white 73L. Or not.  Perhaps this is a TPOC article in the making.
