At the risk of getting the old Dog of the porch early....
... lets get this show on the road.

I don't plan to beat Mad Dog, heck I don't even plan on getting close.
I'm leaving that up to capable drivers with properly prepared Panteras
like Dan Courtney (sorry about the engine man).

My goal is to BE THERE, with my Pantera, ready to pass tech, and me
ready to take on the challenge of touring the course at triple digit
speeds. It won't take much for someone like me, or YOU. Read the rules:
http://www.silverstateclassic.com/rules-1-index.htm
The rule book may change slightly for 2009 but the important stuff will
most likely remain the same, here are some pointers to get you started:
- You don't have to drive Mad Dog crazy speeds, start with Touring, 100,
105, 110
- Get an SA2005 rated helmet. (DO NOT get an M2005 helmet, it WILL NOT
PASS TECH.)
- Wrap some V-rated rubber on some good rims. The rules state you must
have tires that meet the minimum rating the car originally came with.
For the Pantera, that was V-rated rubber, THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS
-anymore-. So put some V or Z rated tires on and have a blast.
- Make sure the tires are fairly new, like two years (the actual
specification for higher speed classes)
- Tires MUST have an equal or greater load rating than original. (I'm
not exactly sure what that is for a Pantera, lets find out)
- Review the tire tech stuff carefully and ask questions early.
- Get a good fire extinguisher and mount it solidly within reach
- You can use OEM seat belts as long as they are in good condition.
- Street clothes, cover everything, use some approved gloves and shoes,
again just look in the rule book.

It's a cake walk, seriously. Most of us have found out if our car will
go 100, how would you like to do it for a full 54 minutes legally? Yea,
that's darn near a full hour at 100 MPH, you have the whole stinkin'
road to yourself and there are NO cops chasing you (of course that might
make it interesting for some but I digress). Maybe if your doing things
right, you might pass the car in front of you. Really, it's not that
hard to have a Pantera ready (well, maybe it is for ME, but we all KNOW
I have issues)

So let's see a show of hands for folks willing to come out and share a
good 100, 105 or 110 high speed run through the Nevada air next May.
Don't be shy, it may be the last chance you get. If you don't think you
can do it, just ask the questions, there are plenty of people here who
will put you on the straight and narrow path. No BS here, we want to
SEE YOU THERE.
