Check out the single pole lifts from Werther in Texas

They are built in Italy and are not cheap, but they save a lot of space.  A former Pantera 
owner has two in his garage in the same 2-car bay and it's easy to walk between the 
lifts/cars as there are no posts in the middle.  He said they cost about about $5K each, 
but he's completely sold on the idea of a single post lift because it saves a ton of space.  
One of the lifts has a removable center section so he can work on the cars, and the other 
is just a storage lift.  The removable center section is more money, but I think well worth it 
if you do any kind of work on your car.
