The "cat-whisker " is a nickname that body engineers gave the small fuzzy 
horizontal seal the keeps dirt and water out of the door. It is installed across 
the beltline, across the bottom of the sideglass on the outside of the car. It 
is attached to the sheetmetal and stays put when the glass goes up and down.

That is what they used to do in the olden days.
