[DeTomaso] Gear cam drive

On the SBC, the idler gear is fixed to the machined aluminum timing case. Is the Ford different?

I'm not sure I really like the fixed idler gear. You have to drill and
tap holes in the block to mount the bracket it attaches to. You get
those holes off a bit and you engage the cam and crank too much or too
little. I can see this causing premature wear or failure. The design
with two idlers seems to me a better idea, even if it -is- floating.
I'm ready for the smarter-than-me engineers on the list to change my
mind though. I'm just a shade-tree mechanic. ;)
