[DeTomaso] 153 vs 164 tooth flywheel Question

Opps, 157 tooth flywheel

Regarding the starter body to oil pan fit, the starter I have is a lot smaller OD than the stock starter, so there should be a lot of room in that is the only issue.  But I'm not confortable with that approach unless it's commonly done.

153 is not a common tooth count for SBF's. Do you mean 157?
Is it 10" or 10.5"? Whatever the count is, you'll need a starter
gear
that will mesh. Also, you may run into starter body to oil pan
lip interference with a standard size starter.

cost of the correct 164 tooth flywheel from McLeod is over $500, so that's
not a good option. But how about:

flywheel, but drill a second mounting hole and bolt the starter a bit closer to
the flywheel. This sounds too easy???

ring gears to do a conversing like this???

It appears that the only difference is the location of the holes???

buy the flywheel from McLeod and still save $200.

clutch given the cost of ZF syncros. The Street Twin need 1/2 inch, and that
means 1 inch throw with a 3/4 MC if I use a McLeod hydraulic throwout, which is
fairly typical.
