[DeTomaso] Firewall Options

Has anyone out there refurbished their firewall recently?  There appear
to be two options (with the goal being a more cleaned up and modern
look): 

1) Remove and replace the stock heat fabric as well as the hose/wire
hangers and touch up any rust or paint issues by hand.  Question: is
Dynamat a suitable replacement for heat fabric - or should I consider
something else?

2) Install a firewall shield (aluminum or brushed metal).

Let me know if you have undertaken this work and what you would suggest
from the perspective of what to do, what replacement parts to use, etc.
Pix of your finished work would be very helpful!
