[DeTomaso] Techno question: aluminum flywheel washers

I didn't use washers on my Fidanza flywheel bolts. I use ARP bolts.
There wasn't any galling under the bolts.
The bolts have always been torqued properly during disassembly (2 disassembles so far - hoping #3 is at least yr 2010)
By the way, at one time I measured the thickness of the flywheel at the flange - if I recall correctly, it was the same thickness as the stock flywheel.

When I finally removed the engine/gearbox and examined the inside of the bell housing I discovered that the bolts that held the pressure plate to the flywheel were a tall hex head bolt and had been kissing the reinforcing bosses inside the bell housing, causing the "bearing" noise. The ARP bolts I bought for both the pressure plate and the flywheel are a very low style fastener and will not create interference problems in either location. I would highly suggest that you pay a buck or two more and get the ARP fasteners (Summit, Jegs, Doug Herbert, etc.).
