I think I liked Mark's solution better. Nothing like a stray dog to stir up
the neighborhood hounds.

  Tony, Dan & List,

Those are all good excuses not to race. The fact is you gotta really want
it to do it and your right its not for everyone.

It would be so much easier with a later model anything to go to a open
track or an open road race with......... but not nearly as exciting.

We're careful to offer discounts to first-timers and help guys with
confidence problems prep their cars. Like any pusher, you got to get
them
    hooked. ;^)
Track is tough on a car, and you have to be as tough (mentally,
wrenchally,
and financially) to weather the continuous maintenance and periodic
    set-backs. Not everyone is.
The other factor that wittles away at the field, is the
restoration/paint
job. A lot of guys give up on the track events right after they spend a
bunch of money on the car.

I knew it would happen sooner or later.
Each outing we have less and less Panteras at this event.
When I started 10 years ago the majority of cars were Panteras.
This last weekend we did not have a single Pantera on the course.
Chris Qualls brought his but it didn't leave the trailer as he was
running
    Jeff's Craftsman truck.
Colin Haney, Jim Saxton, Matt Merrit and several others have sold their
race
    Panteras.
Dr. Abe was there but was still waiting for headers for his sbc Pantera.
I've still got the engines out of both The Winged Warrior and The Beast.
I'm
somewhat ashamed to mention I ran a Z whatever Corvette for almost
unlimited
laps (and didn't blow it up!). It was fun but not as fun as racing a
    Pantera.
We need a fresh crop of racers!
