I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about early cars and  do not 
have a schematic.
 
I would suggest reconnecting everything as normal, leave the diodes  out, and 
tell me what works and what doesn't. The diodes are for the way the  later 
car indicators are wired and may not be needed for your flasher. Also, the  
flasher in the kit is to replace the 3 prong flashers of later cars which are  
load current sensitive and will not flash with LEDs. Your OEM flasher may  work 
fine with the LEDs.
