Ah, the Racing Legends car. This car was run by Team Franco Britannic (the
French De Tomaso importer, who also ran a genuine Gr4 car) in 1972. One
would presume that it was a Gr3 car, although Philippe's book indicates otherwise.
It's probable that it was built as a standard road Pantera, and Franco
Britannic turned it into a race car by equipping it with a Gr3-spec motor and
other Gr3 parts.

In any case, it had some period race history in France when new (there are
some good photos of it in Philippe's book), then kicked around for years. At
some point it was purchased by another Frenchman and in early 2002, it was
converted to Gr4 specification (nominally), but using mostly aftermarket parts as
opposed to genuine, vintage Gr4 parts (new Brembo brakes, for example). The
owner used it regularly, campaigning in the Tour Auto and various vintage
races throughout Europe.

It was initially white and black, but then painted in more original red and
black livery. Sadly, the owner decided to give up racing and last year put
all his cars up for sale.

He had a great website at one point (www.racing-legend.com) but that is now
largely defunct, which is a shame because there were a lot of great period
racing photos visible there.

He does have a link to a photo page showing the car in its original configur
ation, and then in its various Gr4 incarnations:

Of course, what do I know? I'm only an enthusiast. :>) :>) :>)
