The chassis bits (A-arms and such) were the same; the additional width was 
all in the bodywork, and the wider wheels.

GT5 and GT5-S Panteras used different front spindles and rear uprights; the 
latter had different axles with a stepped design, and larger bearings.   The 
brakes were much larger, three-piston calipers with vented rotors; you can't 
bolt GT5 brakes onto an early car as a result, because the mounting tabs are 
located differently.
