Chris, the only thing up there that actually has lube in it is the steering 
rack and it is (or should be rear end lube which has a distinctive odor). Jack 
up the front end and if you can, try to trace the source of the leak. If its 
the rack, it can be leaking from a torn rubber boot on either end, or from the 
rack housing thru the upper shaft seal or a bad gasket. These last may drip 
lube onto the subframe and run along it for a distance before dropping to the
