During a race, at le Mans Classic for instance, the Candy car ( factory Group 4 VIN 2862)  takes 100 liters of 102 octane gas per hour ( 3 € per liter i.e. 4 USD per liter ) That is 400 USD per hour for the gas only . For the Le Mans Classic meeting this year with Candy ( practice + 3 x 45 min.races ) , you are talking about 1200 USD min.
Two years ago, with the Andy Warhol 2342 car ( which has a 68 liter tank, i.e. approx 17 gallons) , I ran out of fuel before the end of the third 45 min. race, and Mike Drew and Gray Gregory ended up pushing me in the pots ( I have the picture you sent me, thanks again ) ! 
Luckily this year, with Candy, I run a 118 liter tank ( approx. 30 gallons ) which means I will not even fill in the tank fully ( weight is the enemy!)
But, Boys, I enjoy it so much ! :>))
Lucky you, US friends, who pay so little for your street gas ( which is of higher quality ) compared to Europe... 
I wonder how much the ADA Le Mans Pantera will take ....

  A full tank in the Pantera would be over $175...

  A round trip from Uppsala to Modena, without any detours, will be around 
  $1300 in fuel alone.
  Had I still had the Holley it would have been close to $2k.
