Well the AC is charged and blowing cold but..... I have yet another issue. I
found a broken orange wire on my alternator the other day and tried to fix
it without disconnecting the battery. Yep, you guessed it... I got a flash
with my screw-driver off the red terminal on the alternator.
I repaired the orange wire and it started charging, but the car was running
like a bag of dirt. Felt like 5 of 8 cylinders were firing. It turns out my
MSD and tach adapter were damaged. So I purchased another set and it runs
great except for the tach. It still doesn't work.
How can I test it? I'm pretty sure it's at the tach because I replaced
everything else and it was working before I got the flash at the alternator.
Are they hard to remove? Can I test it? Can I have it repaired?
Thanks again,
Will

Will,
You should never disconnect the battery when the engine is running.
With the engine running at 2,000 rpm, and a good alternator/regulator, the
voltage at the battery terminals should be around 14 volts DC.

Well, I started the car to go to the AC shop and it was backfiring and
missing. I noticed the ammeter was below o and looked odd. I disconnected
the pos on the battery and it died right away. I relocated the alternator
for the Evans flat kit and must have done something in there.
I'll look for a bad connection, but how do I test the alt/reg?
Will

Database says:
2 pounds of R12 Freon will fully charge an empty Pantera AC system
Use of as much as 3.1 lbs of R12 has been reported with out temp of 37F.
The diagram of the AC system is attached.
