y'all are kidding right?
      Nope.  Not at all.  Look up something like "leading edge tape".
 
never seen a dull finish on any land speed record car, just SR-71 blackbird( for stealth purposes) , even the X-1 was shiny!
 
      Old technology and resistance to change.  There was nothing too stealthy about the Blackbirds.  They were FAST.  Like dimples on a golf ball, or the vynal roof on Richard Petty's 70 Superbird!
