You can cut pretty much any shape hole in the rear fender in front of the wheel opening and air will flow in through it. The question is if it's more effective than making use of the already existing air flow from underneath the car up past the engine out through the sugar scoop. Despite the front mounted radiator air underneath the car is surprisingly cool.

The guys who've tried this found the boundary layer of air along the sides of
a typical Pantera is close to 8" thick, so effective sidescoops cut into the
body etc must be placed only after very careful wing studies- usually using
yarn tufts taped to the sides and photographed by someone outside while the car
is at speed. The Swedish Club did this a few years ago to see what was
happening with gill-scoops and rear wings. FWIW- J DeRyke
