[DeTomaso] 485.8 RWHP & TRIPLE DISC CLUTCH????

Paul,

Unless MD abuses it, my personal belief is the ZF will handle the HP
and TQ he's at right now.

I have an ex-Pantera ZF in my GT40 (only change is a .653 5th) and I
feel confident
that it will handle the 536HP/530ftlb that my engine dyno'd at. Time
will tell, of course.

Gooey slicks and dropping the clutch off the line at 5000rpm, for
example, would certainly
tax many transmissions, among other things.

The GT40s.com forum has discussed this issue ad nauseam and the camps
are split.
Guys that run the ZF with no problems and the others who believe it's
inevitable they will fail.

I beat the crap out of my Pantera over the years, both on the track
and as a daily driver, and the
only thing I ever did to the ZF was ruin the 2nd gear synchro from
power shifting to 2nd too many times.

FWIW,
Kirby
