[DeTomaso] Demon Carb Feedback Wanted

Michael,

My car had an Edelbrock carb when I bought it. I think it was the 650cfm
model. I didn't check. It ran okay, but when I changed the heads and cam,
it ran like crap. I didn't want to learn a new carburetor, so I switched to
a Holley 650dp.

The new Holley ran okay, but I wanted more. I bought a ProForm main body
(about $100), QFT metering blocks, and ProForm Dominator style fuel bowls.
I love this carburetor. There's no choke, but we don't need 'em in Houston.
It gets about 20mpg with a slightly rough idle cam and aluminum A3 heads.
It pulls hard, and is easy to tune. Oh yeah, I also got the QFT or ProForm
base plate.

I considered Demon, and while they're probably built better than Holleys
they don't share that many parts - so if you need jets, power valves, etc.,
you have to order them - probably not a big deal.

Will.

I'm now told by some Saturday night dirt tracker that "real racecars don't
have chokes". well bless my soul, where have I been.

OK, Any feedback on Edelbrock 800 series?

Thanks
