             A minor auction note from  Russo and Steele at Scottsdale  (in January or February 2008?)


               1969  DeTomaso Mangusta  original condition (#3) selling price:  $75,350;  average selling price: $50,000


               "The passage of time had been extraordinarily kind to this 2,811 mile, two-owner Mangusta.  The yellow paintwork was beginning to craze and crack here and there, but you'd expect that after nearly 40 years.  The tan leather interior was worn, but presentable, and, although the rubber gaskets were starting to split, the doors shut with a like-new click.  The seller claimed that the mid-mounted 302-cu.in. Ford V-8 was in perfect condition.  This car has since been listed for sale by a prominent Midwestern dealer, with a six-figure asking price.  Apparently, someone felt that the seller left money on the table."
