Here is an interesting aside.

I watched the old Star Trek episode "Space Seed" yesterday, you remember, the one with Ricardo Mantalban as Kahn.  The interesting thing that caught my attention was that the eugenics war they spoke of, happened in the early 1990's.  Dates they specifically used were 1993 and 1997 I think.

We are now 10 years past that point and still haven't sent any sleeper ships into space.

To think that in 1964, they thought we would have that kind of suspended animation and space travel technology in just 30 more years.
