[DeTomaso] The Italian Checker

"In April 2005, curiosity got the better of a meter reader working in
Kirkland, Washington. He'd seen something obscured by evergreen branches in
a customer's backyard for a few months and just had to know what lay
underneath. Definitely something precious enough to warrant keeping
around--after all, nobody had called the junkman to come haul it away, and
the car hadn't moved for 30 years--but at the same time, not worth enough to
the owner to at least cover it with a tarp, let alone stick it in a garage."

Got to pay to read the rest ...

Check out an interesting article starting on page 24 of the February issue
of Hemming's Classic Car magazine.

It describes a Ghia Centurian which was shown at the 1968 Paris Auto Show.
The car was produced by Alejandro de Tomaso designed by Tom Tjaarda and was
built on a Checker chassis, of all things.

The article is fascinating and even mentions Panteras!

If you can find a copy it's a great read.
