Good news--that's a much easier scenario to deal with.   You'll still have to 
cut the shaft, but then it will be relatively easy to extract the shaft from 
the hub carrier.

Just don't break it!   It's cast iron, so it's pretty tough stuff, but it 
will shatter if subjected to too much abuse.
