[DeTomaso] Putting a small block Chevy.....Oh Really?

Hmmm, a 300 or so HP engine in a 3,500 lbs. car beats a 427?
Umm, no. He let you win.

A 427 tied to a boat anchor, driven by a blind man through a Mississippi
swamp would beat a stock Corvette.

JZ...If what you say is the case, why then, I ask, why did my '00 stock
Vette (full of my junk, probably my golf clubs and various other school
books and
meaningless but weighty paraphernalia, beat the heck out of a 427 Cobra,
whilst playing around on the streets surrounding Fontana Speedway? Why?
And
not a slacker's vehicle either. All I can say is I wondered what happened
to
him; looked in my rearview mirror, and he was wayyyy back. Kind of weird
for
a racer type p. man, wouldn't ya say? Next thing I learned, he (no names
mentioned in respect of the 5th amendment) replaced his glorious (FORD)
engine
of which you speaketh.. with something shall we say, more vivaciously
allegretto.
p.s. I didn't even realize I was exceeding the speed limit (by much) but
when you have batman's wings appearing magically from nowhere, evidently
you can
fly. Not that I don't love my Pantera mind you. Truly I do, it's gutsy,
it's beefy, it's gorgeous, but, where can one go in blocked stop and go LA
traffic with a beastly vehicle that shouldn't be harnessed to the point of

idleness on a 24/7 freeway.... I entirely hate that!!!!

Detomaso installed ford and hemi engines in a pantera after the deal with

ford broke down. Lee Iaccoca looked into making the Pantera a viable

Chrysler product and had a hemi installed. Detomaso also installed a bimmer

motor in the first guara before switching to ford. I am a firm believer if

the the maker of the car installed different makes of engines in his cars

then it is fair game to install that engine in any model the company

built...hence Pantera performances 427...etc etc...they are still FORD

motors. I kind of like the idea of a Bimmer motor or Goran's Hemi for our

Cats. If you want a chevy engine behind you...buy a factory five GTR, strip

a corvette and get to work......but then a ford motor in a FFR

GTR....well.....you know where this is going.

Power by Henry will always trump a chevy in my book
