FWIW, this swap has been successfully done since the mid-'80s, with both
small and big-block engines. It takes some swap-fabrication but nothing out of the
ordinary. It also takes much less money, skill and engine knowlege to hot-rod
a Chev engine than a Ford. Often, it's simple expediency: someone has a
left-over Chevy engine and wonders how it would work.
Also FWIW, nearly all the Panteras-with-Chevys have been converted back to
Fords over the years, including one that once had a real ZL-1 motor. With modern
ignitions, the distributor placement is a non-issue. Good luck- J DeRyke
