[DeTomaso] AC Evaporator lines

The black sticky insulation is called 'cork tape' and can be had at any AC
supply (it need not be an automotive AC supply). The tape's job is to
prevent water from condensing on the otherwise exposed AC lines. If the
lines are not insulated, there will be a steady water drip either on the
passenger side carpet or the passenger side passenger's leg (spouses can be
fairly unsympathetic to partially completed AC system upgrades).

If you don't like the cork tape showing and collecting stuff (it actually
makes a pretty good bug trap), then you can also get a roll of aluminum foil
tape at the same AC supply. Just wrap the black sticky stuff with the shiny
foil stuff to eliminate the roach motel effect.

Subject: [DeTomaso] AC Evaporator lines

Underneath the dash, there are a couple of AC lines that come from the
evaporator. They are wrapped in black, sticky sort of covering that I
am sure is intended to insulate them. Is there any alternative or
upgrade to this gummy black stuff? If not, where can I find the
original type material to replace it?

Thanks for the help.

Joel
