  After almost 100 years of service in one form or another the M2 .50 cal. machine gun may be replaced soon.
Kinda sad day here upon hearing the news.  If you've ever had the pleasure of hauling that big charging handle 
back and cutting loose with one you'll understand. 
  As I understand it, the actual round will stay but lighter more portable guns are being sought.  Now that 
Congressmen are all military weapons and tactics geniuses and deciding what systems the military will use,  
I'm sure we will have a suitable replacement.
Michael...just make the old one out of titanium...it looked so cool.
