[DeTomaso] main water tubes

But they do. The prototype Pantera had the main water tubes running up in the 
console and the radiated heat from plain steel tubes was bad enough to force 
drivers out of the car. They lowered the tubes in production cars, but on hot 
days, the gearshift lever still gets too hot to touch. Even leaving the 
gearshift boot out on a road car causes a noticable increase in cabin heat. A couple 
of guys tried aluminum water tubes in the '80s and that caused the cabin 
heating to be very bad. Maybe if you add some sort of heat-reflective material 
around the tunnel under the car? If you still try this, let us know how it works 
without the A/C cranked all the way on. Thanks- J Deryke
