And Chris, your serious? Does any of your comments tell you something is wrong?

You can't imagine how a Pantera with no fans could idle on a hot day? Or you can't imagine your Pantera with no fans on a hot day? ;-)))))

Have you ever looked at my radiator or cooling system?

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW....I give up. ;-]>

I'll be at the swap meet tomorrow to continue the debate.

Since I love to jump into the middle of a controversy, let me say that when I purchased my '72 with 59,000 on it, and the original radiator, the twin fans were turned on and off by an under-dash switch the previous owner had installed. The switch melted after about a week of use, so I bought a Dakota Digital fan relay system for the two radiator fans. I also replaced all the hoses in the car as well as the cooling tubes.

Even with that, the car's stock temperature gauge needle would gradually rise up into the red zone after about 20 minutes of sitting in traffic on a day 75 degrees or warmer. Maybe the stock gauge was wrong, but it went so far to the right I didn't want to risk overheating, so on the advice of a fellow Pantera owner I decided to add a third, sucker fan.

While installing it, the original radiator broke and puked coolant all over the garage floor (doh!). After I bought a new, brass radiator and installed it, now the first fan kicks on fairly quickly, then as the needle starts to move to the right the other two fans turn on, then the temp seems to stay below 200. Plus, I also installed an additional temp gauge from the block, just to be sure.

Based on my experience, I can't imagine how a Pantera with no fans could stay cool idling on a hot day. But then, I have cooling fans on my engine cover; so what do I know???!!
