They work just as well as any other car.

For that matter, Jim Demick rigged up a mount for a child seat on the center 
console, between the two main seats, and dragged his kid all over the USA in 
his Pantera along with his wife.   He used the seat belt shoulder harness bolts 
to secure a steel bar, and attached the seat to the steel bar, and tied the 
bottom of the seat down somehow.
