Clay - I don't know if this will help but according to this page:

the KBL terminal is for
" C or KBL = power to turn signal indicator light in gauge cluster" .

I don't know anything about electrical issues but is it possible the 
noise you heard
when you tried to start the car the starter solenoid was engaging but 
the starter didn't spin?
Maybe the start spun but the solenoid didn't engage?
