Check with JB...I think he replaced his worn out Michelin Sports with Sumitomo's and said they were a BAD replacement tire...did not handle or grip anywhere as well as his Michelins.

want the two hours of my life back.) I run the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
on my commuter / occasional track-day car. I like them. They a have a
funky tread design you may or may not like. They won't match your
fronts.
My current set has almost no discernable tread left, so I'll need new
tires before the winter rains come. I would buy them again, but I want
to try something different just to explore. Maybe some Kumho DOTs.
I have run a couple of different sets of the Dunlops in the past. I did
not like them (poor grip, corded early), but that was probably more due
to my choice of the harder rubber series and camber settings. The 8000
series may be better.
At more than $1,000 out the door, the PZeros are going to run you more
than 10 cents/mile in real world driving. A lot more if you really put
your foot in it.
Somebody (Garth?) tried the Sumitomo and reported that he liked them.
Hopefully whoever it is will pipe up.
You should go with the Sessanta just to see how it works out.

My white Pantera needs rear tires. It currently has 335/35/17
Michelins.
Looks like the choices for non-race tires are:
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
$443 each tirerack.com
220 treadwear rating
Y speed rating
Treadepot.com has PS2's listed for $447 with free shipping
Pirelli PZero System
$480 each tirerack.com
140 treadwear rating
Y speed rating
Treadepot.com has Pzeros listed for $412 with free shipping
Dunlop Sport 8000
335/35ZR17
$487 each www.1010tires.com
200 treadwear rating
The Michelin and Pirelli are listed as "Max Performance Summer" tires on
tireracck's site with a warning they are "not intended to be driven in
near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice". I prefer the
335/35/17 size but if I drop to a 315/35/17 size, there are several more
less expensive tires to choose from:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
315/35/17
Y speed rating
280 tread wear rating
$292.00 (Back Order)
Dunlop SP Sport 8000
315/35ZR17
W Speed Rating
Treadwear: 200
$316.00 (each) Back Order
Sumitomo HTR Z
315/35ZR17
Treadwear: 160
$99.00 (each) In Stock
Another interesting tire:
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
315/35ZR17
280 tread wear rating
Y speed rating
$169 each at www.performanceplustire.com
The Sessantas are supposedly very quiet for a performance tire with
excellent grip. They have 225/45Z/17, 235/45/17 and 245/45/17 sizes
for the front in the $130-$135 range so I could get a set of 4 for
around $600, considerably cheaper than just a pair of 335/35/17 rear
tires. Anyone tried these? I found a discussion on a Vette forum
that was favorable:
