Well, eventually they did.   I don't recall seeing any Euro (or rather, 
non-US-market) cars offered with leather interiors in the '71-74 period though.   
Given that they were all tailor-made, I suppose anything is possible, but I'd 
be more inclined to believe that the interior was retrofitted later.
