[DeTomaso] FW: Bushing saga update

Asa Jay
I have gone looking for my bushing collection too. When I decided to stick
with the stock rubber suspension arm bushings, they were very hard to get. I
got 8 of them from Steve Wilkinson (over $44 each). Ouch! He had no more at
the time (2002). They were dimensionally the same as the originals in the
rear of my car and installed without complications, but I still needed some
for the front. I got two new old stock Ford ones in the boxes from Cory
Gehling and the last two Steve had. Then Maserati source started selling the
gold colored ones cheap on ebay. I bought a bunch more from him. They are
the same dimensions as the NOS Ford ones and the old $44 ones I got from
Steve Wilkinson 6 years ago. I have never seen either of the ones you
picture as having got recently from Steve. I would not use them. If you
can't get the right ones from Steve, I highly recommend the ones from
Maserati Source. I hope he still has some of them. These are the same as the
ones in your SOB photos. I have also been told they are the same bushings as
used 308 Ferrari suspension arms (by a reliable source). That's probably the
reason why all these low priced bushings on ebay came on the market. You can
check it out, but I imagine you can buy the same bushings cheap on ebay
listed for a 308. I still have the two NOS Ford ones and the last two
DeTomaso ones left over (as references). If someone is stuck for a few and
can't get the right ones, I'll sell those. Photos attached.

Good Luck
Barry

I've tried to summarize the basics in the photo caption information here:

If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
