Yes you are spot on. I removed the little spring shims for track use. thats what rubs.

I took it over to Doug's house and we took a look and it appears the diameter of the Mustang rotors is a tiny bit larger than stock so the outer edge of the rotor rubs slightly and makes a small whine. I hope it soon wears down enough to cause it to stop. It's embarrassing driving a cool car that sounds as if there's a cat stuck underneath...

You can separate the disc and hub, and then transfer the disc over to the OEM Pantera hub. One more step is needing to enlarge the lug holes in the mustang disc to 17 mm. I did about three sets like this few years ago. Never have found a 12mm lug that will just drop in the newer one-piece replacement 1965-67 Mustang rotors. I thought the vendors had engineered some direct drop in rotors? What am I still doing on this forum? I sold my Pantera 19 months ago. It's cause the people are great.> Ron > ---- Christopher Kimball <chrisvkimball at msn.com> wrote: > > > > I'm pretty sure when we put the mustang rotors on my front wheels we had to use the studs that came with it; I remember my mechanic telling me I'd have to keep my lug nuts straight since the back ones would be metric and the front ones SAE.> > > > I guess there may be other reasons to keep one's lug nuts straight, but that's just what I was told...!> > > > Chris> > > > > From: MikeLDrew at aol.com> Date: Tue, 22 Jul 2008 14:50:32 -0400> To: detomaso at realbig.com> Subject: [DeTomaso] Mustang rotor swap question?> > Hey guys,> > I know some of you have successfully installed 60s Mustang rotors on the > front of your Panteras, and you made it sound pretty easy.
