Seriously though, if you let your fuel tank get really low, it's quite 
possible that you sucked up some gunk and clogged your fuel filter.   The short-term 
fix is to just replace the filter.   The better solution is to remove the 
fuel tank vent by drilling out the three rivets that hold it in, then fabricate a 
'pool sweep' apparatus using a short length of aluminum tubing, some rubber 
fuel hose, a spare fuel filter, and an electric fuel pump.   Fish the pipe into 
the tank while peering in from above, suck the fuel up and through the 
filter, then the pump, and return the fuel back into the tank via the fuel filler.   
In a few minutes you can use this setup to suck up all the grit and gunk that 
is undoubtedly collected in the bottom of your tank.
