With the increased popularity of restoring cars in general the cost for 
parts and labor has also skyrocketed and like wise a lot of shops feel they 
too should be paid more with the increased value of vinatage cars. With 
regard to powdercoating the wheels I would be very specific about what you 
want the finish to look like with the powdercoater. Magnesium tend to gas 
out while baking turning the silver powder coats bluish in appearance. Also 
using too much material or the wrong sheen of clearcoat will also affect the 
final appearance. Experienced powder coaters are familiar with this and will 
use one of several techniques to achieve the desired appearance of the 
wheels when powder coating magnesium wheels.
