[DeTomaso] ZF nut torque specs

Hi Lee

I'm not optimistic that torqueing the nuts will stop the leak. This is your
best bet to seal the leak.

1) Drain the oil from the ZF

2) Purchase a tube of "Yamabond 4" from your local Yamaha dealer and a
couple of cans of spray brake cleaner

3) Do you best to remove the nut and studs that are screwed into the rear
case. Do not attempt to remove the rear steel cover. The shaft that guides
the reverse gear may be press fit into it and its removal may drop your
reverse gear into the case.

4) Start at the top of the case and clean the stud holes with brake clean.
Then coat the threads of the studs with Yamabond 4 and retread into the
case. The reason to start at the top is so that the brake cleaner will not
drip down and dilute the Yamabond on lower studs. The torque spec is ~ 173
inch/lbs or 15 ft/lbs.

I'll bet some of the studs will come out when you unscrew the nuts; of
course, others will present a bigger challenge as double nutting will be
difficult with the cover in place.

Lee, If you dare to try to remove the rear cover, call me and I'll talk you
through it.

JT
