Mike, 
In reading about the hold-off valve, apparently many production cars now have 
them, since the late 60s.

It avoids the tendency when braking for the rear to pass the front in a front 
engined car when it is installed in the front. It allows the rear brakes to 
lead the fronts in brake application by a millisecond, keeping the car 
straight, pulling the rear of the car back just before the front brakes go on.

I guess on a Mangusta or Pantera you would put both in the front so that the 
rears would bite first followed by the fronts that would be would be adjusted 
by the proportioning valve to not lock up for maximum stopping.
