The stock bore for the U-joint cap is 32mm or 1.260".
 
New u-joints to fit stock shafts are about $50/ea. Pantera East has them, among others. I got mine off Pat Mical's shelf for $45.
 
It was tricky getting them to seat right and not feel as if they were binding. 
 
The professional shops deal with this with controlled hammer blows to the yokes and that's what it took.
