Maybe not, at reasonable speeds. The Pantera body has a 'boundary layer' of
air about 2-3" thick along that area up to maybe 120-130 mph. This is why those
small "air scoops" used to replace the gills are only cosmetic- they are
inside a 'dead area' wind-wise. Even the big 4" deep 'elephant-ear' scoops don't
seen to scoop air until you get to BIG triple-digit speeds. To check your own
personal Pantera for this phenomenon, roll the drivers window down about an
inch, wet your fingertip and stick it outside horizontally, progressively further
to feel evaporative cooling of the wind. People with small hands or short
fingers may not be able to feel any wind at all. A 'loose' gill might rattle,
though and a magnetic cabinet door latch should fix that. Cheers- J Deryke
