[DeTomaso] Especially for the skeptics (that means you, Mr. Drew!)

Chris,

Where is your air cleaner with respect to all of this? Is there any chance that you are pulling all the dirty under car air up to the vicinity of the air clearner?

  Ken

That assumes you're traveling at something over 20 miles per hour--you obviously haven't experienced Seattle traffic! Before I got the new radiator and third sucker fan I was driving from Tacoma North on I-5, about a thirty mile trip, to get the front end aligned (and the spindle and ball joint replaced, too, as it turned out...), and I had to pull off to the side of the road twice to turn off the car and let it cool down. It was bumper to bumper with little to no forward movement for about 20 minutes at one point. It took that long to travel about 100 yards. It's times like that when the engine compartment needs fans!

When the car is moving at a decent speed heat is no issue--even before the new radiator and third fan the car would run cool over 50. My goal is to run around town now and again to local car shows, etc., so that means a lot of stop lights and not a lot of air movement.

Don't worry; sooner or later I'll get a hold of some sort of thermometer and actually do some tests with and without the cover and its fans. If it makes little or no difference, I'll be the first to give a hearty "Doh!" to all on the forum!

Sincerely,

Chris
