Hi

I have all but one or two of my clients on Norton. The biggest killer for
hogging system resources is Norton System Works...and their GO BACK program
which should generally be avoided.

All anti-virus programs consume some system resources. Norton is generally
worse, but is very proactive in protecting you from malware.

Norton Antivirus does an excellent job of protecting you, not only from
viruses, but from malware or programs that try to invade your system.
Combined with Microsoft's Windows Defender (free) I have had very good
results keeping PC's protected.

Norton 360 offers a suite of features, including: Antivirus, Antispyware,
Email Scanning, Identity Protection, Firewall Protection, Backup and
Restore, PC Performance, Rootkit detection, Embedded Support, Antiphishing
and Automatic Updates. The big hitter here for a lot of
people...particularly on home PC's is the "BACKUP and RESTORE". Which most
home users fail to do. Hard drives fail on PC's and MAC's with distressing
regularity. At the end of the day...the computer is just iron. It's your
data that is the only thing of any true value.

Get yourself an external hard drive and at least copy your data to it
periodically.
Acronis makes an excellent backup program that is fast...schedulable...and
relatively inexpensive ($50).

Norton Internet Security. Useful for the home use with one machine. A pain
in the ass on networks.

Whatever you decide...be sure to keep your definitions updated...and run
full system scans periodically. AND BACK THOSE SYSTEMS UP!!!
