FWIW,
MY OEM water pipes measured: ID = 1.2675 in.; OD = 1.3830 in.
Straight 1 1/4 inch hard copper pipe measured: ID = 1.257 in; OD = 1.379 in.
So, the ID of both is 1 1/4 inches and the OD is 1 3/8 inches within 1/100
of an inch.
1 3/8 inch ID hose fits 1 1/4 inch straight copper pipe perfectly.
Doubling the hose clamps should do the job.
If you are not comfortable with double hose clamps you can solder a small
gauge solid copper wire near the end of the copper pipe. Wrap the wire once
around the pipe and twist the ends to hold the wire in place while soldering.
Solder the wire in place and clip off the section where the wire was twisted.
The wire need not completely circle the pipe as the wire has nothing to do
with preventing leakage.
Note: 1 1/4 inch copper fittings (elbows, unions, cap, etc), which have wall
thickness of 1/16 inch, measure ID = 1 3/8 in.; OD = 1 1/2 in.
Have fun,
